I just read an interesting article about a woman who contracted a foot fungus while walking barefoot through the security line at the airport.

So here is my tip of the day, bring socks even if you are traveling in sandals.

Gourmet in the sky

Who needs first class when you can eat like a king in economy?  Now comes the part when you say, “um, no one eats like a king in coach”….and my response to you is, skymeals.com.

Skymeals prepares epicurean meals, specifically packaged and prepped for in-flight dinning.  Their menu has over 70 items, ranging from flash seared ahi tuna to green tea cheesecake, with meals starting at $25.

How it works is you place the order by 3:00pm the day before your flight, and the delivery person meets you curbside at the airport.  Delivery is included in the price and each meal is packaged in  a cooler bag (yours to keep) with all the necessary utensils.  

The company was started by two foodies who decided to pack a gourmet picnic of Parisian delicacies on one fateful flight back from France.  They got so many jealous looks from fellow passengers that they decided to make a business of serving fine food to flyers.

Unfortunately the service is only available in Los Angeles area airports (LAX, Burbank and John Wayne), but plans are in the works for expansion.

Skymeals.com is taking catering to a whole new height, literally.
