“Stay” the name says it all
Stay is a new hybrid hotel/hostel located in downtown Los Angeles. In order to accommodate different lifestyles and budgets, the hotel offers a menu approach to room selection. The 138-room prototype hotel consists of 70% private and 30% shared accommodations.
The rooms are decorated in a chic modern style and offer hi-tech amenities such as: iPod docking stations, free wifi and flat-screen televisions. A nice twist is that Fido is welcome as long as she/he is not over 60 pounds….a feature that is rare for budget hotels.
In celebration of the hotel’s opening, starting this week Stay will display live hotel guests living 24 hours per day in two model hotel rooms that have been created in street-level storefront windows. Initially, these guests will be on display until November 15, 2008, although the promotion may be extended for an indefinite period of time.
By the end of the month the hotel plans to open a coffee shop adjacent to the property called Marty and a sister art gallery, Arty. A bar and restaurant, called Nip and Tuck are also in the works. Additional Stay properties are planned in the near future for San Diego, Hollywood and San Francisco.
Rates start at $79 for private rooms and $35 per person in shared rooms, to book visit stay-hotels.net

So I am sitting here at a Dodger game and thought of the perfect tip of the day.
In the past I have said that sometimes it pays to buy your airline tickets last minute…..well that theory pays off for sporting events and concerts as well.
My crafty husband was able to buy 2nd row seats for face value from VIPtickets.com (a legal scalper)……earlier in the day the tickets were going for $325….but by waiting until the last minute (less than an hour before the game) we got them for $75 (face value).
So next time you are traveling and find a concert or game you wish you had bought tickets to….don’t worry, those last minute seats might be the best seats in the house.
P.S. The ultimate fashion faux pas is sitting in front of me….a Dodger scrunchie!!!! Maybe I’ve gone back in time without realizing it?!?!
