Buying souveniers has to be the hardest part of travel.
You can go the route of Scrooge and buy nothing, or waste tons of money on junk people throw away.
A fun solution I have have found is to do all souvenier shopping at the grocery store when traveling. It’s fun to do and people always get a kick out of wierd foreign food.
Pictured above is my favorite item found in French grocery stores….Minizzas….if Ritz Crackers and a pizza had a child it would be this.
Fun, compact and cheap….all the elements needed for the perfect souvenier.
When traveling long distances in Europe, the train is no longer the cheapest form of travel…..budget airlines are.
The two biggest players in the European budget airline market are Ryanair and Easyjet. Many other budget carriers exist but taking them can be risky, as I’ve run into many travellers who show up to the airport and find out their airline has gone bust overnight with no warning. Read more »
Last night was ate dinner in the Latin Quarter in Paris. After dinner we found a bar that was very lively, so we decided to wander in.
At first it looked like any normal bar in Europe blasting europop (which I love). Once inside we noticed a few odd things…..the first being hundreds of bras hanging from the ceiling….the secound being the waiters uniforms, or lack there of.
Yes, in the picture above the waiter is only wearing his underwear. At “Latin Corner Sexy Bar for Crazy Night”(we did not see the second half of the name until we left), the waiters wear only underwear…..and not boxers, tighty whities and other similar underwear. They also wear interesting head gear, like construction hats, sailor hats, etc.
At first you might say…..well obviously this is a gay bar…..but remember this is Europe so all the rules are different…..only about 5% of the patrons were gay and pretty much all the waiters were straight. There were a suprsingly large amount of hetero couples there (and not all lost tourists like us).
Above is a picture of a waiter bringing a drink with sparklers in it……yes sparklers in an alcoholic beverage….the US Fire marshall would have a heart attack in this place!
If you would like a drink at this unique bar, it is found in the Latin Quarter in Paris (5th arrondisment) on Rue de la Huchette.
I must apologize for my lack of posts in the past few days…but while in Morocco, posting was impossible. Since I was staying in the Medina(the old part of town), WIFI was inexistent. This had to do with the fact that all walls are at least 24″ thick. Not even our international mobile phone worked.
I will be catching up in the next week and you will be seeing a lot of Marrakesh featured in the regular of next week.
Above is a picture of Jemaa El Fna square in Marrakesh at night.
While searching for Moroccan pop music I came across this song “Habibi” by Wafaa. Would love to give you guys more info…..but could not find more info on her! If you know anything…post it in the comments.
