If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been on a little traveling hiatus since my trip to Pittsburgh in August. FEAR NOT! I will be making my yearly trip to NYC next month. Anyway, when I don’t have the time (or the money) to travel, I’m naturally envious of those who are planning trips. If you really want a true Rocky Mountain experience, then you probably shouldn’t spend all your time in Denver, Colorado. You deserve a better taste of the Rockies than a simple swig of an ice cold Coors Light. And that is why my good friend Lindsey took me up to the charming mountain town of Evergreen, which is only 40 minutes to an hour away from Denver’s city center.

When I’m taking a trip, I prefer to travel with a companion. Why? Well, for one, it’s easier to document my trip. Sure, I’ve perfected the whole “let’s take a cheesy, Facebook, vanity pic of myself” thing. But if you want to get yourself into an iconic scenery shot, you need another human being to help you out. I suppose you could ask a stranger, but when it comes to that, I always have visions of that camera-stealing French guy (at least, I think he was French) from that National Lampoon movie invading my brain. And I guess a tripod would come in handy for solo adventures, but then I worry someone will run up and take my camera within the 10 seconds I leave it unattended.

This past weekend, I attended the 2009 Chicago Blackhawks Convention at the Hilton on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. I met a lot of players, participated in Q&A sessions and was just… in awe… listening to these professional athletes give advice, talk about their personal lives and pick on their teammates.

However, with travel always on the brain, I began to think, “These guys are some of the most well-traveled people in this room!”
