It astonishes me on how many people travel without a plan, or an idea of what they want to see at their destination.  If you are one of these non-planner types, then head over to the tourist bureau when you arrive at your destination.

Tourist Bureaus are treasure chests of ideas and deals…and they usually can offer free maps and guidebooks.

If you are planning to take part in a multi-city ski odyssey like I did, but are not bringing you own equipment…do yourselves a favor and rent your skis/snowboard in the town you will start and end in.  This saves the hassle of having to wait in the rental line at each mountain and also saves expensive and precious slope time.

Since vacations cost money and precious time….be smart and buy a map if you are visiting a city.
