(i.e. those who are in line to board the plane, and the line raps around a few times when you could every well just be sitting down reading, listening to ipod or better yet, people judge? I mean watch?)”

The reason people fight to get on first is that overhead storage is limited and on a first come-first serve basis…..and now with airlines charging for luggage, the fight is even more intense.
Although I agree that getting on in order is a nice idea, I understand why people get pushy to get a prime space in overhead cargo.
